Like the cozy familiarity of a well-worn pair of faded jeans, the dilapidated elegance of an Italian villa, or the worn grandeur of faded velvets and mismatched floral china handed down from your grandmother's attic, the Shabby Chic style is a revived appreciation for what is used, well-loved, and worn. It is a respect for natural evolution and a regard for what is easy and sensible.

Lo shabby chic letteralmente “trasandato-chic” o “dimesso-chic” è l’invitante, pratico,romantico stile consumato dal tempo creato dalla famosa designer americana Rachel Ashwell, è uno stile di vita che riflette la grazia e la semplicità di altri tempi. Le parole chiave sono COMFORT, FUNZIONALITA’ e BELLEZZA.
La casa dei propri sogni può essere creata riutilizzando in modo nuovo e con un minimo di restauro o decorazione vecchi mobili di normale produzione, uniti ai piccoli tesori dei mercatini, soprattutto pizzi, damaschi sbiaditi, vecchie brocche traboccanti di fiori freschi, lino stropicciato.
Il pranzo si serve con piatti, bicchieri e posate d’epoca, ma strettamente scompagnate.
I colori sono necessariamente i delicati pastelli dei broccati e velluti sfumati e sullo sfondo il bianco candido di muri o legno dipinto e tanti tappeti consunti.

Shabby chic, also known as cottage style, is a popular vintage-inspired interior design style where home accent pieces are chosen for their age and obvious worn quality, or new items are treated to achieve a more antique appearance. Antique furniture is sometimes painted white and sanded at the corners for a distressed appearance.
Pink, mint green, white and muted aqua are the colors most frequently seen in shabby chic accessories and fabrics, and fabric construction tends toward cotton, vintage barkcloth, linen, and chenille, sometimes bleached or stained with tea to look older. The shabby chic look of interior design also incorporates vintage chandeliers, lamps, and certain floral prints, large rose motifs in particular.
