Lo shabby chic letteralmente “trasandato-chic” o “dimesso-chic” è l’invitante, pratico,romantico stile consumato dal tempo creato dalla famosa designer americana Rachel Ashwell, è uno stile di vita che riflette la grazia e la semplicità di altri tempi. Le parole chiave sono COMFORT, FUNZIONALITA’ e BELLEZZA.
La casa dei propri sogni può essere creata riutilizzando in modo nuovo e con un minimo di restauro o decorazione vecchi mobili di normale produzione, uniti ai piccoli tesori dei mercatini, soprattutto pizzi, damaschi sbiaditi, vecchie brocche traboccanti di fiori freschi, lino stropicciato.
Il pranzo si serve con piatti, bicchieri e posate d’epoca, ma strettamente scompagnate.
I colori sono necessariamente i delicati pastelli dei broccati e velluti sfumati e sullo sfondo il bianco candido di muri o legno dipinto e tanti tappeti consunti.
